Robert C. Akers, 72, died Monday, October 13, 2014 at Helen Keller Hospital. He was born in Prentiss County, Miss. and had worked at Lance Garment. He was an Elder of Red Bay Church of Christ.

Services were Friday, Oct. 17, at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, RedBay, with Bro. Scott Webster officiating. Burial was in SparksChapelCemetery, Vina.

Survivors are his wife of 50 years, Nancy Akers, Vina; three children, Kimberly Willingham, Jr. and Karla Jarnigan and husband, Randy all of Russellville, and Kendal Akers and wife, Heather, Athens; adopted daughter, Jackie Harrison and husband, Stacey; six grandchildren, Camron Jarnigan, Emma Willingham, Trey Willingham, Alex Jarnigan, Bethany Harrison and Cain Harrison; four foster grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Barbara Akers and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lilburn Monroe Akers and Edna Mae Sheppard Akers and a brother, Bill Akers.

Pallbearers were Chuck Bullock, Mark Bullock, Michael Jarnigan, Allen Nichols, Herbert Trulove and Rowe Lindley.

Visitation was Thursday, Oct. 16, at Deaton Funeral Home, RedBay, and until service time on Friday.
