Robert “Bobby” Blackburn Bowen, 74, of Spruce Pine, passed away Sunday, Oct. 5, 2014.

Mr. Bowen was a member of Mt. Hebron Baptist Church and was retired from Reynolds Metal Company. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

The funeral service was Tuesday, October 7, 2014, at Pinkard Funeral Home Chapel, Russellville, with burial in Knights of Pythias Cemetery. Officiating was Dr. Scott Delashaw and Bro. Jerome Sherrill. The family received friends at the funeral home on Monday, October 6, 2014.

Survivors include wife, Sue Cummings Bowen; son, Johnny Bowen and wife, Teressa; daughter, Shannon Pike and husband, Randy; grandchildren, Cody Bowen and wife, Joshlyn, Paige Bowen, and Ryan Pike; great-grandchildren, Triston, Bailey and Jaiden; brother, Billy Bowen and wife, Peggy; family friends, Dr. Terry Graves and Bettie Entrekin.

Pallbearers were Murray Morrow, Mason Smith, Gene Ellison, Charles “Satch” Jones, Wayne Jackson, Tommy Jackson and Gerald Scott.

Honorary bearers were Robert Parmer, Sherman Smith, Tommy Shoemaker, Bro. Clinton Busler, Denton McCarley, Pete Thorn, Reynold’s Retired Breakfast Buddies and Cedar Creek Friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Josephine Bowen; and mother-in-law, Melba Cummings.
