Tharptown falls to Decatur Heritage

By Bart Moss

For the FCT

The Tharptown Wildcats jumped out to an early lead over Decatur Heritage Friday night but could not hang on for the win.

After putting together an impressive drive, Tharptown scored first in the opening quarter on a two-yard run by Heath Hatton. The Wildcats led 6-0.

Decatur Heritage would take a slim lead into the locker room after scoring on a 30-yard pass play to make the score 7-6.

The Wildcats were never able to generate any more scoring while giving up 19 unanswered points in the 19-6 loss.

Tharptown is now 1-4 with a crucial region game Friday night as they host Phil Campbell.

The game will go a long way in determining playoff hopes for both teams.
