Howard Almon Cox, 86, Russellville, passed away Thursday, May 22, 2014, at his residence.

He was a native of Marion County, but had lived in Russellville for the past year.  He was a deacon and member of First Baptist Church in Hackleburg.  He was a shriner and member of Hackleburg Lodge.

Funeral service was Friday, May 23, 2014, First Baptist Church, Hackleburg with Sam Morgan officiating.  Visitation was prior to the service. Burial will followed in Cedar Tree Cemetery.

Survivors include children, Belinda Whitfield, Russellville, Ricky Cox and wife, Marsha, Haleyville, Tami Rudolph, Tuscumbia; brother, Bill Cox, Marietta, Ga.; grandchildren, Christie Bostick and husband, James, Chad Whitfield and wife, Jennifer, April Linley and husband, Lancy, Marisa Wakefield and husband, Jeremy, Josh Sutherland and wife, Danielle, Juston Sutherland and wife, Robin, Jamie Cox and wife, Jenifer, Zach Cox, Casey Whitfield and wife, Holly; 17 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Chad and Casey Whitfield, Jamie and Zach Cox, Josh and Juston Sutherland.

Honorary bearers were Lancy Linley, Jeremy Wakefield, James and Will Bostick.

He was preceded in death by parents, Roy and Hettie Cox; siblings, Elton Cox, Faye Wood and Ray Cox.
