Rev. Thomas M. Scott, 83, died Sunday, May 18, 2014 at the Red Bay Hospital. He was born May 10, 1931 in Pike County. He was a member of Red Bay Free Will Baptist Church where he was a former pastor for 15 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving 20 years.
Services will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, at Red Bay Free Will Baptist Church with Bro. Steve Lindsay, Bro. Barry Raper, David Corum and Ron Scott officiating. Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 22, at First Baptist Church, Dozier. Burial will be in Kimbro Cemetery, Dozier. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, will be in charge of arrangements.
Survivors are his wife of 61 years, Paulette Scott, Red Bay; two sons, Ron Scott and wife, Pam, Cabot, Ark., and Philip Scott, Red Bay; four grandchildren, Tyler Scott and wife, Courtney, Nathan Scott and wife, Katie, Caleb Scott and Rachael Scott; five great-grandchildren, Elijah, Isaac, Judah, Layla and Mason; an aunt, Barbara Wayman and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Irene Scott and a sister, Betty Lee.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Caleb Scott, Tyler Scott and Nathan Scott and Roger Lucas, Mike Rogers, Micah Funderburk and Jeff Jones. Honorary pallbearers will be deacons, Elmer Lee Self, Robert Newell, Raymond Blackburn, Ralph Purser, Mike Jones, Jeff Madden and Jason Vinson and Timmy Joe Davis, Rhett Davis, Hubert Aughtmon and Billy Ray Petty.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, at Red Bay Free Will Baptist Church.
