Sidney J. Jackson
March 12, 2014

Sidney Junior “Jack” Jackson graduated from earth to heaven on Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born April 4, 1932, to Sidney O. and Mary W. Jackson in Russellville. He married Anna Jane Shields on Dec. 20, 1951. Sidney and his sweetheart of more than 62 years moved back to Alabama in 1986, following his retirement from General Motors in Flint, Mich., after 33 years of service.

In September 1956, he gave his heart to his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and remained faithful serving God in many capacities. His love for his family was only surpassed by his love for God.

He is survived by his wife, Anna Jane Shields Jackson; and daughters, Jarita Venable, Cindy Ledford, and Judy Tucker and husband, Randy. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Josh Venable, Justin and Jamie-Lee Venable, and Cameron Jackson; brothers, Bill, Charles, Elmer, and Howard; sisters, Dot and Elise; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was privileged to inherit grandchild, Greg Tucker and wife, Stephanie, and his children, Caden, Levi, and Skyla. Also surviving are special family, Henry and Sharon Hereida, Sherry Forrest, Jerry (Raymond) Saltzman, and the members of South Highland Freewill Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, Sidney; mother, Mary; and sister, Luree.

The visitation was from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, March 13, 2014, at South Highland Freewill Baptist Church, Muscle Shoals.

The funeral was at 2 p.m. today at the church. Officiating was Brother Shiloh Hackett. Burial was at Franklin Memory Gardens.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. William Hobbs, Nancy, and Kristie for many years of excellent care.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to South Highland Freewill Baptist Church, 704 State Street, Muscle Shoals, AL 35661.
