Herman C. Lane, 87, of Russellville, passed away Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014, at Helen Keller Hospital.

He was a lifelong resident of Franklin County, a member of Tharptown Baptist Church, and a member of the Franklin County and Alabama Cattlemen’s Association.  He was retired from Reynolds Metals Company.

The funeral service was Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014, at Tharptown Baptist Church with burial in the adjoining cemetery.  Bro. Bobby Amos and James Osborn officiated the service.  The family received friends at the church on Tuesday.

Survivors include children, Ronnie Lane Greenhill and wife, Judy, Greg Lane and wife, Sandra, Russellville, Shelia Osborn and husband, Jimmy, Moulton, Teresa Nix and husband, Don, Hartselle; grandchildren, Jeremy Lane and wife, Kelly, Muscle Shoals, James Osborn and wife, Rayne, Selma, Michael Osborn and wife, Betsy, Huntsville, Joy Beth Lane, Muscle Shoals, Brad and Sarah Nix, Hartselle; siblings, Clifton Lane, June Amos and Barbara Amos.

Pallbearers were grandsons, Jeremy Lane, James Osborn, Michael Osborn, Brad Nix, Ben Johnson, Will Lane and Jeff Newell.

He was preceded in death by wife, Margaret Ann Lane; grandson, Jason Lane; parents, Authur and Katie Lane; siblings, William Lane, Mildred Wells, Louise Moland, Hoyt Lane and Howard Lane.
