Teams gear up for area tournaments

Area Tournaments begin this week around the state. Teams that advance to the finals automatically advance to Sub-Region play. The winner of each area will host a Sub-Region game. The area runner-up will travel to a Sub-Region game. Teams winning Sub-Region games will advance to the Northwest Regionals at the campus of Wallace State in Hanceville.

Admission each night is $6 as mandated by the Alabama High School Athletic Association. Local team play is as follows:

1A, Area 15 Girls at Tharptown High School

Thursday, Feb. 6 at 6 p.m. – Tharptown vs. Hackleburg/Vina

Thursday, Feb. 6 at 7:30 p.m. – Belgreen vs. Phillips

Saturday, Feb. 8 at 7 p.m. – Finals

 

1A, Area 15 Boys at Phillips High School

Friday, Feb. 7 at 6 p.m. – Phillips vs. Hackleburg/Vina

Friday, Feb. 7 at 7:30 p.m. – Belgreen vs. Tharptown

Monday, Feb. 10 at 7 p.m. – Finals

 

2A, Area 16, Girls at Red Bay High School

Thursday, Feb. 6 at 6 p.m. – Red Bay vs. Cherokee

Thursday, Feb. 6 at 7:30 p.m. – Colbert Heights vs. Phil Campbell

Saturday, Feb. 8 at 7 p.m. – Finals

 

2A, Area 16, Boys at Colbert Heights High School

Friday, Feb. 7 at 6 p.m. – Cherokee vs. Phil Campbell

Friday, Feb. 7 at 7:30 p.m. – Colbert Heights vs. Red Bay

Monday, Feb. 10 at 7 p.m. – Finals

 

5A, Area 16, Girls at Muscle Shoals High School

Thursday, Feb. 6 at 6 p.m. – Lawrence County vs. Athens

Thursday, Feb. 6 at 7:30 p.m. – Russellville vs. Muscle Shoals

Saturday, Feb. 8 at 7 p.m. – Finals

 

5A, Area 16, Boys at Athens High School

Friday, Feb. 7 at 6 p.m. – Muscle Shoals vs. Lawrence County

Friday, Feb. 7 at 7:30 p.m. – Russellville vs. Athens

Monday, Feb. 10 at 7 p.m. – Finals
