William Winsol Mitchell, 89, died Wednesday, January 22, 2014, at the Red Bay Hospital.

He was born August 2, 1924, in Red Bay, and he was retired from Red Bay Water & Gas after 15 years.

Funeral services were Saturday, Jan. 25, at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay, with Bro. J.C. Blackburn and Bro. Jerry Humphries officiating. Burial was in Ebenezer Cemetery, Vina.

Survivors are two daughters, Betty Jean Miller and husband, Al, of Lewisburg, Tenn., and Peggy Jane Maxwell and husband, Danny, of Red Bay; one sister, Maedeen Thompson; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jewell Pearl Mitchell; a son, William Dexter Mitchell; his parents, Marion Mitchell and Maudie Holland Mitchell; a grandson, Michael Dexter Mitchell; a great-grandson, Elijah Sanders; and a great-granddaughter, Tiffany Osborn.

Pallbearers were Nelson Mitchell, Josh Mitchell, Michael Miller, Tyler Umfress, Brad Umfress, Jamie Davis, Dale Massey and Michael Massey.
