Belgreen varsity girls pick up pair of wins

The Belgreen varsity girls came out with a win over Fayette County on Nov. 25 by a score of 64-25.

At the end of the first quarter the score was tied 5-5. After that the Lady Bulldogs turned up the heat by outscoring the Lady Tigers 23-10 in the second quarter and 24-6 in the third quarter.

In the second quarter, eighth grader Jasmine Martin hit three three-pointers, accounting for nine of her 12 points for the evening, and Lexie Bragwell scored six of her 10 points.

In the third, 10th grader Allyson Bragwell scored nine of her 13 points and eighth grader Abby Hester, who also had seven assists for the game, chipped in five of her seven points. Emma Riley would score seven of her nine points in the final frame.

Finishing out the scoring for the lady Bulldogs were Hanna Taylor (four points, six rebounds), Brooke Williams (3), Alex Miller (2), Laken Bragwell (2), and Brianna Wood (2).

The following night, the Lady Bulldogs extended their winning streak with a 49-28 victory over Waterloo.

The Lady Bulldogs jumped out to a 17-6 lead after the first quarter with Laken Bragwell scoring six of her 14 points and Abby Hester scoring five of her seven points.

In the second quarter, Lexie Bragwell scored six of her 12 points as the Belgreen Lady Bulldogs increased their lead to 29-9 at halftime. Waterloo outscored Belgreen 6-4 in the third quarter.

In the final frame, Belgreen outscored the Lady Cougars 16-13. To finish up scoring, Belgreen had three girls to scored four points each: Alex Miller, Jasmine Martin and Allyson Bragwell. Briana Wood and Hanna Taylor chipped in two points each.
