Gilbert Fierro, 77, Russellville, passed away suddenly on Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013 at Helen Keller Hospital.
Mr. Fierro served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was a wonderful husband; loving father and grandfather, and a friend to everyone he met. He always considered himself as a “Mexican Hillbilly” and loved Alabama football. He was loved by everyone who knew him and will be missed by all.
The visitation was Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013 at Spry Memorial Chapel. The funeral was Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013 at Spry Memorial Chapel. Officiating the service was Bro. Kenneth Reed followed by military honors. Burial was at Dempsey Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Hazeline Hacker Fierro; children, Sheila Fierro Werley, Yolanda Fierro, Debra Fierro, Patricia Partain, Denise Adams, and husband, Terry, Bill Davis and wife, Donna; Diane Davis Townsend, Mark Chaney and wife, Misty; 26 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; great-grandchildren; siblings, Paul Mundell and wife, Sheila, Eileen Gray and husband, Earl, Allen Mundell and wife, Terri, Ricardo Inzunza and wife, Carol, Dorothy Lee Mezta and husband, Jim; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Mundell and mother, Antonia Figuero.
The pallbearers were Gaylon Partain, Elmer Clay, Wayne Palmer, Willie Davis, Matt Royce, Tim Partain, Richard Partain, and Daniel Clay.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the ambulance service and staff of Helen Keller ER for the love and care shown towards our family.
