Gertha Mae Davis, 81, left her earthly body to be with her heavenly Father on Monday, Oct. 14, 2013, at Red Bay Hospital.
She was born April 26, 1932, in Franklin County, and was a homemaker. She was a member of Red Bay Church of God of Prophecy. She loved going to church, listening to gospel music and was a faithful prayer warrior.
Services were Thursday, Oct. 17, at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay, with Rev. Gerome Key, Rev. Harvey Mitchell, Rev. Rick Sentell and Bro. Ricky Humphries officiating. Burial was at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Golden, Miss.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Johnny A. Davis; one sister, Dorothy Mae Humphries; one brother, Rev. Harvey Mitchell and wife, Katie; devoted special niece, Lucille Humphries; nieces, Cynthia Basham and husband, Dewayne, and Lori Sentell and husband, Rick, and nephews, Ricky Humphries and wife, Lisa, Joe Dewayne Mitchell and wife, Janice, Larry Mitchell, Travis Mitchell and wife, Mandy, and Joe Joe Mitchell.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Joe H. and Emily Holley and Jesse and Dithular Mitchell; mother, Florence Jackson Mitchell; father, Guy Mitchell; an infant daughter, Barbara Brown; brother, Joseph Ray Mitchell; niece, Barbara Mitchell and special brother-in-law, Charles Humphries.
Pallbearers were her nephews and friends.
