Doug Swinney, 70, Spruce Pine, passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital.

He was a native of Illinois, but had lived in Franklin County for several years. He attended the Baptist church. He was a self-employed logger and a member of the Masons, Lodge #608.

The funeral  service was Thursday, May 16, 2013, at Pinkard Funeral Home, Russellville, with James McCullar officiating. Burial was in Liberty Hill Cemetery at Phil Campbell.

Survivors include his wife, Gail Swinney; children,  Doug  Swinney and wife, Sharon;  Dianne Malone, Larry Swinney and wife, Melissa, David Lindsey, Dewayne  Swinney and wife, Sherry, Jessica Gipson and husband, Chuck; grandchildren, Robert Malone, Tiffany Curtis, Sabrina Diaz, Erica Swinney, Liz King, Courtney and Briana Lindsey, Dillan and Blake Swinney, Zack, Isaac and Eli Gipson; three great-grandchildren.
