Elizabeth Lee Hughes McKinney, 98, died Tuesday March 12, 2013, at the Medical Center at Scottsville.

The Red Bay native was the daughter of the late Jim Bryce Hughes and Lucinda Adeline Patterson Hughes.

She is preceded in death by six sisters and five brothers. She was former president of the Shelbyville, Tenn., Teachers Education Association, an avid bridge player of many clubs, active in the First Baptist Church Milton, Fla., and a member of the Milton, Fla., Garden Club.

She is survived by one daughter Anita Lee McKinney Rather and husband, Freddy, of Bowling Green, Kent., one son, Jim McKinney and wife, Carolyn, of Birmingham, five grandsons, Bret McKinney, Bart McKinney, Jay Darnell, Geoff Rather and Robbie Rather, 10 great grandchildren, one brother, Arlie Patterson Hughes and wife, Mattie, of Milton, Fla.; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Special thank you to her caregivers Tammy Cornwell, Linda Shell, Brenda Johnson and Margaret Meadows.

Funeral services will be 12 noon Monday March 18, 2013, at the National Cremation and Burial Society in Milton, Fla., with burial in the Barrancas National Cemetery.
