Man arrested after fleeing scene of Monday accident

A Russellville man was arrested on Monday after fleeing from the scene during a routine traffic stop, officials said.
Martin “Bop” Hill, 42, 1013 South Washington Ave., Russellville, was arrested for unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, attempting to elude police and driving under the influence of a controlled substance.
According to Russellville Police Chief Chris Hargett, officers were performing a routine traffic stop to ask for information about another person when Hill suddenly fled from the scene.
Hargett said Hill led officers on a short car chase and then took off on foot before he was eventually apprehended.
Hargett said after the vehicle was stopped, officers discovered crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle and he was arrested on those charges as well.
At press time, he was still in custody without bail.
