Congratualtions to Randy Seal and Merrell Potter for awards
Often people talk about police officers and firefighters being heroes, but occasionally there is an event that prompts people in these professions to go above and beyond expectations.
The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5184 felt the tornado that ripped through Franklin County in April was one of those events. The post presented the firefighter of the year and police officer of the year awards two a pair of figures who helped save lives and maintain order on that awful day.
The Franklin County Times congratulates Russellville Fire Capt. Randy Seal and Phil Campbell Police Chief Merrell Potter for receiving these awards.
While some people might say Seal and Potter were merely doing their jobs, they were able to excel in a stressful situation for several consecutive days to help a ravaged community cope with disaster.
Yes, people do consider firefighters and police officers as heroes. Seal, Potter and all of the emergency responders who helped after the storm are the reason why these professions are held in such high regard.
