Man tells police that he sexually abused young boy
A Russellville man was arrested on Wednesday after voluntarily confessing to police officers that he had sexually abused a young boy.
Alberto Juan Pascual, 34, 305 East Tuscaloosa St., Russellville, was charged with second-degree sexual abuse and enticing a child for immoral purposes, Russellville Police Chief Chris Hargett said.
According to Hargett, Pascual came to the Russellville Police Department on Wednesday afternoon with a religious official and told officers he wanted to confess his sins.
After officers begin questioning him, Pascual admitted that he had sexually abused a 12-year-old male victim 10 months ago.
Hargett said investigators contacted the Franklin County Department of Human Resources who interviewed the victim and confirmed Pascual’s admission was correct.
Hargett said Pascual was arrested at that time and taken into custody. He was released on Friday on a $35,000 bond.
