Baldwin’s victory highlights talent in Franklin County

Franklin County has several talented musicians living within its borders, and one of them received statewide recognition Monday night when he won The Year of Alabama Songwriters Contest.

Joseph Baldwin, of Vina, claimed the top prize, which includes an Alabama shaped guitar, $2,000 and a recording session at FAME Recording Studios.

Competing against 139 entrants, Baldwin’s “I am Alabama” proved to be the best song about the state.

The Franklin County Times congratulates Baldwin on his victory. Baldwin has not only brought recognition to the county, he has also shown the rest of the state the rich musical talent that calls Franklin County home.

Much of this talent will be featured in this year’s Faces and Places magazine, which will be available in Saturday’s edition of The Franklin County Times. Baldwin is one of eight local singers featured in the magazine.

Pick up your copy of Faces and Places to read more about Baldwin and the other singers who call Franklin County home.
