Car chase leads to three arrests

Officers with the Russellville Police Department tracked down a Lauderdale County man and two juveniles wanted for stealing a car from Florence early Wednesday morning.
Robert Brown, 19, 317 Lauderdale 289, Florence; a 16-year-old male from Florence; and a 17-year-old female from Russellville were found to be in possession of a stolen vehicle around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday, Russellville Police Chief Chris Hargett said.
According to Hargett, officers received a notice from the Florence Police Department that a 1999 Jeep Wrangler had been stolen from the Florence area and officers were asked to be on the lookout for the vehicle or the driver.
Hargett said a Russellville officer spotted a car matching the stolen vehicle’s description around the Limestone Street and Sockwell Avenue area and observed the car was traveling at high speeds.
After verifying the tag matched that of the stolen Jeep, officers turned on their lights but the driver of the stolen vehicle accelerated, running stop signs and driving at high speeds through downtown Russellville, police said.
According to Hargett, the car slowed down once it got to Gaines Avenue and two males jumped out of the vehicle and ran. Officers remained in pursuit of the stolen vehicle until it reached Cotaco Street where the female driver jumped out.
Officers entered into a foot pursuit with the driver until she was taken into custody.
Hargett said one of the males was tracked down by the K-9 unit and both he and the female juvenile were transferred back to Florence. The other male was caught by Florence Police later that day.
Since the theft occurred in Florence, the case is now being handled by the FPD.
