Walk-a-Mile keeps worthy cause in the spotlight
These days there are so many organizations trying to raise awareness about various topics that it is easy to lose a few causes in the myriad of voices.
One local organization is trying to help a worthy subject rise above the fray — child abuse.
Safeplace, Inc. is holding its annual Walk-a-Mile this week in an effort to educate the community on the presence of child abuse in Franklin County.
While all the causes organizations take up, there is something about the innocence of a child that touches peoples’ heartstrings in a way no other cause can. It is a subject many people would like to push to the side because it is an uncomfortable topic of conversation.
Events like Walk-a-Mile, however, keep the topic in the open, which leads to real change. Hopefully it will make a big difference in reducing the child abuse cases seen in Franklin County.
