Investigators search for couple in boat theft case
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Department is looking for assistance in locating two Franklin County residents who are suspected of stealing about $50,000 worth of equipment in Franklin and Colbert counties.
Investigators are looking for Jeffery Landon Fitzgerald, a 45-year-old white male with an address of 536 Hyde Road in Phil Campbell; and Rhonda Odom Hill, a 43-year-old white female with the same address.
Late Friday night or early Saturday morning, a 2005 Larson boat worth $25,000 was stolen from Freeman’s Marine on Alabama 24 in Russellville.
An investigation into the theft led officers to the two suspects’ residence on Hyde Road in Phil Campbell. While executing a search warrant at the residence, officers with the FCSD, the Alabama Bureau of Investigation, the Russellville, Police Department and the Phil Campbell Police Department discovered the stolen boat as well as a 1999 Caterpillar backhoe, valued at $25,000, that was reported stolen in November from a business in Muscle Shoals.
The thefts are still under investigation and anyone with information about the whereabouts of Fitzgerald or Odom should contact the sheriff’s department’s 24-hour number at 256-332-8820.
