Gym unveils weight loss plan, contest

With the holidays quickly approaching and a new year soon to begin, many Franklin County residents will start making their New Year’s resolutions and, as always, losing weight will be at the top of most people’s list.
Unfortunately, most people usually let the desire to lose weight fade quickly when they see that there’s no easy fix. The process of living healthier requires a commitment and a lifestyle change before any lasting success can be seen.
The Franklin County Times and American Health and Fitness in Russellville have partnered with Dr. Harry Kuberg and Russellville Hospital to make this dream a reality for one county resident.
“At American Health and Fitness, we see every day the efforts people are making to change their lives,” said Jason Davis, who co-owns American Health and Fitness with Russellville native Terry Prince.
“With all the fad diets and get in shape products on the market today, it is hard to know what is best. The only proven way is to make a true lifestyle change that includes a nutritious diet and exercise.”
That is why Davis and Prince want to give one county resident the ability to receive a free personal weight loss plan. American Health and Fitness, The Franklin County Times, Russellville Hospital and Dr. Harry Kuberg have partnered to give one person the chance to become Franklin County’s Biggest Loser.
Similar to the popular television program, Franklin County’s Biggest Loser will allow someone to receive a personal weight loss plan complete with nutrition and medical advice from trained professionals.
“We want to help one person make that healthy change this coming year,” Davis said.
“We feel that if by helping one person, it could be the domino that starts a true change in our community.”
When it comes to our lifestyles, few things will ever affect us more than our health. Today, more than 30 percent of all Alabamians are obese and one out of 10 people have diabetes.
To help in the fight, there will be an application to participate in Franklin County’s Biggest Loser in the Franklin County Times each Saturday from Oct. 30 through Nov. 27.
Applications must include basic personal information and why you want to participate. Davis and Prince will evaluate the applications and select the winning entry in early December. The applications will be accepted throughout the month of November. The winning participant will receive three months free gym membership, three months of personal training, a basic physical provided by Dr. Harry Kuberg and a consultation/meal plan provided by Russellville Hospital.
All applicants will receive one free trial week membership at American Health and Fitness.
Applications can be clipped out of The Times and returned to American Health and Fitness at 15567 Hwy. 43, Russellville, AL 35653.
