Two plead for roles in house break in
Two Russellville men charged with breaking into an occupied residence and stealing guns in 2009 face time in prison as part of their plea agreement.
Andres Francisco Pascual, 29, and Miguel Julio Garcia, 27, pleaded guilty to a 10-year sentence for first-degree burglary.
The two defendants were charged with first-degree burglary, second-degree theft of property and third-degree criminal mischief in July 2009 after kicking open the door of an occupied residence on Highway 82.
The defendants were confronted by one of the residents inside the home shortly after they entered and then fled from the residence on foot.
The two defendants were apprehended and taken into custody.
“Even though neither defendant had a prior record, we still believe that there should be a harsh punishment when someone breaks into a person’s home while the family is inside,” Franklin County District Attorney Joey Rushing said.
Pascual and Garcia will be sentenced on Nov. 9.
Rushing added that a third suspect involved in this crime is still at large and any information leading to his arrest would be greatly appreciated.
