UPDATE: Police identify suspect in bank robbery

Investigators have identified a Florence man as a suspect in last Thursday’s robbery at CB&S Bank in Phil Campbell.

Lt. Marc McCormack, of the Alabama Bureau of Investigation, said authorities are looking for Ronald Pollard, 49, of 2011 Hixon Ave., Florence.

McCormack said a tip phoned in to the Shoals area Crimestoppers line led to Pollard. A blue Chevrolet Astro van matching the description of a van scene near the scene of last week’s robbery was identified at Pollard’s Florence home.

Investigators briefly spoke with Pollard on the telephone and told him that they needed to speak with him about the robbery in Phil Campbell.

McCormack said the suspect notified investigators that he would be back in touch with them, but has not done so. He has not been seen since Tuesday.

McCormack said since Pollard said he had a gun during the robbery, there is the potential that he could be armed and considered dangerous.

Phil Campbell police officers worked with the ABI and FBI at the scene last week and identified the blue van that led to their interest in Pollard.
