Red Bay needs win

RED BAY — The past few years Red Bay dominated during the first few weeks of region play to earn a comfortable spot in the standings and eventually used those wins to claim a playoff berth.

The Tigers are currently 0-2 in region play and trail five teams in the standings.

They will need a win Friday night at Lamar County to stay in the hunt for the fourth and final playoff berth. If the Tigers lose, they will probably need to sweep the final four region games to make the playoffs.

The Red Bay defense has played well this season, giving up an average of 20 points per game. It will need to continue playing well against Lamar County, which scored 48 points against Phil Campbell last week and is averaging 40.7 points per game.

Red Bay’s defense will need to keep the Bulldogs from building a big lead.

The Tigers have fallen behind in the last two games and had to rally late in an effort to win. Those rallies fell short.

The Red Bay offense has averaged 18.3 points per game and will need to get better production to keep pace with Lamar County.

The game will be at 7 p.m. at Lamar County.
