Vina industrial park gets good news in tough time

The Great Recession is still being felt by many in Franklin County, but new grants totalling roughly $1.5 million for the industrial park in Vina could bring some much-needed relief to the area.

The money will be used to provide sewer service to the site and to build a speculative building to help attract industry.

There is hope the new Toyota plant in Mississippi will create a need for parts suppliers near by. With Vina less than 100 miles away the industrial park, which is roughly 400 acres, would make an excellent location for these suppliers.

Even if the park were to get only a few new businesses, it would help Franklin County to lower its unemployment rates and bring in taxes to help fund local schools.
