VINA- Vina town officials are working to keep their town’s name in the hat when it comes to industrial recruiting efforts in the county.
The Franklin County Commission signed a letter of support Tuesday recommending that Vina receive funds to help finish a sewer system project, which will help the town’s industrial development capabilities.
Franklin County Commission chairman and Probate Judge Barry Moore said the completion of the sewer system project at Vina Industrial Park could potentially benefit the entire county.
Vina officials said they plan to present the support letter and other information to representatives in Washington as they seek project funding.
Moomaw said several companies have contacted the Franklin County Development Authority to see what areas are up to code and are able to host industry immediately.
Moomaw said it will take about $2 million to complete the project, but they will only be asking for $690,000 from Washington to get them started.
