Russellville and Franklin County officials are proud to report increases in both city sales tax and county sales tax numbers for the month of December.
Even though investors believe the economy to be slumping, county and city officials said the county community should take pride in keeping their hard earned wages inside county and city lines.
Russellville reports show that $393,430 were received in December, which is an 11 percent increase compared to the $354,259 brought in the same time last year.
Russellville Mayor Troy Oliver said the numbers show that our community is strong in this tough economic time.
Franklin County numbers have also risen, from $191,397 in 2008 to $223,128 in December 2009. The 17 percent increase has pleased a number of county officials.
Franklin County Commission chairman Probate Judge Barry Moore said for the county to turn things around in this vicious economy is great news.
