RED BAY- A Mississippi woman was taken in for questioning after a Red Bay Big Star employee found the woman was trying to use a counterfeit $100 bill to purchase items.
Red Bay Police Chief Jana Jackson said Alexia Tucker, 31, of 50 County Road 51 in Dennis, Miss., was picked up Wednesday after an employee marked the $100 bill and found the bill Tucker was using turned out to be fake.
Authorities were called immediately and Tucker was taken back to the station for questioning.
Jackson said Captain Eddie Chandler, after a series of questions, recovered another $500 worth of fake money in Tucker’s vehicle.
Authorities said Tucker had previously used two artificial $100 bills in Dennis, Miss., and Belmont, Miss.
Tucker was transferred to Tishomingo County Jail in Mississippi and charged with the prior offenses.
Officials said the case is still under investigation and will be presented to the grand jury during their next quarterly session.
