    John Mark Pounders, 36, of Spruce Pine passed away on Friday, Jan. 29, 2010 at his residence.
    Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 1, 2010 at Spry Memorial Chapel with Bro. Jack Henson and Bro. Brian Scott officiating. Interment was in Franklin Memory Gardens.
    He was preceded in death by his father, Tony Wayne Pounders; grandparents, Nelson Howell, Tony Pounders; and uncle, Stanley Cansler.
    He is survived by his daughters, Alayna Pounders and Cydnie Pounders; mother, Paula Ricketts and husband, Eddie; brother, Steve Pounders and wife, Connie; grandparents, Pauline Howell, Oma Dell Pounders; nieces and nephews, Korey Pounders, Kaysie Pounders, Andrea Ricketts, Brooke Pounders; uncles, Wayne Cansler and wife, Vivian, Buell Cansler and wife, Teresa; aunts, Linda Nunez and husband, Larry, Virginia Roberts and husband, Roger, Minnie Cansler; and numerous friends.
    The pallbearers were Teddy Williams, Andy Cansler, Keith Wilson, Josh Wilson, Stevie Scott, Korey Pounders. Honorary pallbearers were Robert Williams and R.H. Williams.
    He was a member of Spruce Pine Church of Christ, the Muscle Shoals Welders, Plumbers and Pipefitters Union, Local 760.
    Gregory Austin “Ernest T” Bryant
    January 30, 2010
    Gregory Austin “Ernest T” Bryant, 42, of Russellville passed away Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010 at Russellville Hospital. He was born in Russellville on Monday, Oct. 9, 1967 to Harold “Shorty” Bryant and Sara Gladney Bryant.
    Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2010 at Akins Funeral Home with Bro. Douglas Click officiating. Interment was in Knights of Pythias Cemetery.
    Pallbearers were Gregory Bryant, James Johnson, Jason Wilson, Steve Jackson, Jeff Gladney, and Brandon Aldridge. Honorary pallbearers were Stevie Motes and Stuart Motes.
    He was preceded in death by his father, Shorty Bryant; brother, Andy Thomas Bryant; and grandparents, Benjamin and Mildred Gladney and Artis and Cecil Bryant.
    He is survived by children, Kendrick Star Bryant, Gregory Austin Bryant, and Sabrina Bryant; mother, Sara Gladney Bryant; siblings, Theresa Aldridge and husband, Warren, of Spruce Pine, Kaye Madden and husband, Anthony, of Russellville, and Harold Bryant, of Russellville; grandchildren, Austin, Tanner and Kirby; nieces and nephews, Chris Aldridge, Brandon Aldridge, Nathan Aldridge, April Hamm, Misty Riggs, Zackary Bryant, Keishla Bryant, Kelandra Bryant, Heather Bryant and Haley Bryant.
    The family would like to thank all their family and friends for their prayer and support and the nurses and staff of Russellville Hospital, especially Sheila and the ICU staff.
    Mary Edna Mitchell

    Mary Edna Mitchell, 84, of Russellville, Ala. died Friday, January 29, 2010.
    She was a retired cosmetologist and a member of Washington Avenue Church of Christ.
    Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at Pinkard Funeral Home with Ed Bragwell officiating. Burial followed in Franklin Memory Gardens.
    Mrs. Mitchell was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Byron M. Mitchell.
    She is survived by her son, Harold E. Mitchell and wife, Barbara, of Russellville; daughter, Linda Hovater and husband, Donald, of Russellville; brother, Warren Grasham and wife, Sarah, of Chattanooga, Tenn; sisters-in-law, Juanita Grasham, of Muscle Shoals and Vickie Mitchell, of Tuscumbia; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; six step-great-grand-children.
    Pallbearers were grandsons.
    Eddith Lyle Lowery
    February 1, 2010
    Eddith Lyle Lowery, 86, of Russellville, Ala. passed away Monday, Feb. 1, 2010 at Burns Nursing Home.
    She was a lifelong resident of Franklin County and member of the Baptist Church.
    Funeral services will be Wed., Feb. 3, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home in Russellville with Jerome Sherrill officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Springs Cemetery in Phil Campbell. Visitation will be prior to the service from 12 noon until 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
    She is survived by her daughters, Sarah Murray, of Russellville, Faye Burleson and husband, Tony, of Haleyville; son, Steve Lowery and wife, Kathy, of Phil Campbell; grandchildren, Connie Franks and husband, Ronnie, Shanna Moon, Kody, Bailey and Adam Lowery; great-grandchildren, Jason, Jacob and McKayla Franks; several nieces and nephews.
    She was preceded in death by husband, Arthur Junior Lowery.
    Sammy Dale Hall
    February 1, 2010
    Sammy Dale Hall, 60, of Russellville, passed away on Monday, February 1, 2010 at Russellville. The visitation will be held from 6p.m. to 8p.m. Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at Spry Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11a.m. on Thursday, February 4, 2010 inside the chapel. The interment will take place at Franklin Memorial Gardens.
    Mr. Hall was preceded in death by his parents, L.D. and Callie Hall; and sister, Patsy Hall.
    He is survived by his wife, Joyce Hall; step-son, Ronnie Goins and wife, Sandy; step-daughter, Tracey Tyra and husband, David; six grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; brother, Freddy Hall and wife, Linda; two nieces; one nephew; five great-nieces and nephews; special uncle, Frank Seay; and special cousin, Charlene Gladney.
    Pallbearers for the service include J.P. Hall, Adam Tyra, Jamie Franks, Anthony Mayberry, Larry Greenhill and Terry Bolton. Honorary pallbearers will be Josh Goins and Gene Ray Bolton.
    Mr. Hall was a Christian man and was loved by all.

    January 30, 2010
    Timmy Wayne King, 49, of Russellville, Ala. passed away on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010 at ECM Hospital. He was born in Russellville on Saturday, June 4, 1960 to William Josh King and Zula Marcell Mansell King.
    The visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2010 at Akins Funeral Home. The funeral services will be at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel on Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010 with Pastor Brian Gable and Bro. Paul McDowell officiating.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, William &Marcell King.
    He is survived by his children, Jenny Killen, Melishia King, Christopher King, Michael King; brothers, Terry King, Ray King; grandchildren, Isabella, Abby, Nickelos, and Eli; three nieces and one nephew,
    He was a loving father that will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
    James Elbert McDowell, Jr.

    James Elbert McDowell, Jr, 45, of Huntsville passed away Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010.
    He is survived by his mother, Nancy McDowell, of Russellville; sisters, Sandra Bolander and husband, Brian, of Lopoc, Ca. and Dorothy Patrick and husband, Johnny, of Russellville; nieces, Annika Bolander and Marie Patrick; nephew, Keith Patrick; and longtime partner, Perry Goins.
    No services are planned at this time. Spry Funeral Home of Huntsville is honored to assist the family.
