    Roark T. Childers

    Roark T. Childers, 52, of Vina passed away Monday, Jan. 18, 2010 at the North Miss. Medical Center. He was born Oct. 13, 1957 in Marion County to Thomas O. and June Barker Childers. He was self-employed as a heavy equipment operator. He attended Liberty Church in Vina where he was an adult Sunday school teacher.
    Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 23 2010 at Liberty Church with Bro. Marshall Emerson officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home assisted the family.
    He is survived by two sons, Chase Childers and Channing Childers, both of Vina; mother, June Sanderson, of Vina; two sisters, Dawn Hutcheson and husband, James, of Pinson, Ala. and Fran Hooper and husband, Marshall, of Destin, Fla.; two nieces, Emily Hooper and Sarah Hooper; and one special aunt, Brenda Gober, of Decatur, Ala.
    He was preceded in death by brother, Gary Childers.
    Pallbearers will be Jeff Childers, Jonathan Childers, Nelson Childers, John Childers, Russell Davis and Jimmy Johnson.
    Maxine Cantrell
    January 19, 2010
    Maxine Cantrell, 79, of Hodges, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010 at Helen Keller Hospital. She was born Jan. 6, 1931 in Arkansas and was a seamstress for 40 years and a member of Hodges Convention Baptist Church.
    Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 22 at Hodges Convention Baptist Church with Bro. Stephen Cantrell and Bro. Loyd Ray Griffus officiating. Burial was in Hodges Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home assisted the family.
    She is survived by two sons, Earl Cantrell and wife, Anita, and Eddie Wade Cantrell and wife, Cheryl, all of Hodges; ten grandchildren, Vanessa Vargas and husband, Leroy, of Temple, Texas, Stacy Cantrell and wife, Karon, of Russellville, Stephen Cantrell and wife, Candi, of Atwood, Ala., Mindy Price and Christa Anderson and husband, Derrick, all of Red Bay, Kim Pharr and husband, Kevin, of Franklin, Ind., Tracy Bays and husband, Chandler, and Selena Cantrell, all of Hodges, LeAnn Hardin and husband, Jeremy, of Belmont, Miss., and Brandi Moore and husband, Jason, of Bear Creek, Ala.; eighteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Irene Gills, of Hackleburg, Ala. and Fran Henry, of Ark.; brother, Frank Verdict and wife, Louise, of Kansas; daughter-in-law, Cressoline Cantrell, of Hodges; her poodle, Tiny; and a host of nieces and nephews.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Mandy Littaker Verdict; her husband, Jack Cantrell; son, O'Neal Cantrell; two brothers, Ted Verdict and Kenneth Verdict; step-mother, Beulah Richmond Verdict.
    Pallbearers were Larry Cantrell, Kyler Childers, Kevin Pharr, Jeremy Hardin, Jason Moore and Jamal Anderson.
    Erik David Wigginton
    January 17, 2010
    Erik David Wigginton, 29, of Golden, Miss. passed away Sunday, Jan. 17, 2010 at his residence. He was born Jan. 28, 1980 in Red Bay and was self-employed as a construction worker for six years.
    Funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010 at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Don Rouse and Bro. Wayne Bumgart officiating. Burial was in Ridge Cemetery.
    He is survived by two children, Skye Wigginton, of Red Bay and Brandon Wigginton, of Houston, Texas; his father, Wade Wigginton, of Golden, Miss.; one sister, Tosha Grimes, of Red Bay; his grandmother, Jean Hall, of Red Bay; and special friend, Rosanna Hester, of Red Bay.
    He was preceded in death by his mother, Kathy Hall; grandparents, Buel and Wilma Wigginton, and O'Neal Hall; and first cousin, Chris Blake.
    Pallbearers were Ricky Carter, Jimmy Hester, Eric Hubbard, Matt Phifer, Justin Hall and Mike Prestage.
    Ether Nell Camp
    January 19, 2010
    Ether Nell Camp, 82, of Haleyville passed away Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010 at Hendrix Health Care and Rehab. She was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church.
    Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010 at Pinkard Funeral Home with Bro. Ron Horton officiating. Burial was in Winston Memorial Cemetery.
    She is survived by her sons, Charles Camp, Teddy Camp and Ronnie Camp; sisters, Florence Cagle, Ann Hurt, Rena Hood, and Joyce Burleson; brothers, Harold Walker and Earl Walker; grandchildren, April Celeste McCary, Melanie Camp, Benji Camp, Bradley Camp, Sherry Hudson, Jonathon Camp, Cliff Camp and Sebastian Camp; and nine great-grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, John Colbert Camp; parents, Gainey and Carrie Walker; brothers, Chester, Mayo and Crant Walker; sister, Willodean Taylor; daughter, Charlene Hall; and grandson, Teddy Dewayne Camp, Jr.
    Owen O. Kuykendall
    January 20, 2010
    Owen O. Kuykendall, 89, of Russellville, Ala. died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010 at Fairview General Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio.
    He was a native of Franklin County and a member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church. Owen was a proud U.S. Army Veteran of World War II.
    Visitation will be Sunday, January 24, 2010 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home in Russellville.
    The funeral will be Sunday, January 24, 2010 at 3 p.m. at Cedar Creek Baptist Church with burial in the adjoining cemetery. The body will lie in state from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. Officiating will be Brother Leaborn McCarley.
    Owen was the loving husband of the late Mildred Kuykendall. He is survived by son, Jerry Kuykendall and wife, Connie; grandchildren, Daniel Kuykendall, of Medina, Ohio, and Carrie Wildman and husband, Matt; great-grandchild, Jordan Wildman, of Pikeville, N.C.; son Phillip Kuykendall and wife, Robin; grandchild, Kara Kuykendall, of Cleveland, Ohio.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, Benton and Fannie Mae Kuykendall; sister, Lora Bolton, and brother, Willard Kuykendall.
    He was loved by many cousins, nieces and nephews, and will continue to be cherished by many.
    Lorene W. Ledbetter
    January 21, 2010
    Our loving mother, Lorene W. Ledbetter, 85, formerly of Russellville, Ala. and for the past three years Muscle Shoals, Ala., went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 21, 2010.
    She was a long time member of First Baptist Church Russellville and later a member of Highland Park Baptist in Muscle Shoals. She was a retired teacher with the Russellville City School System with over 30 years of service.
    Funeral service will be Sunday, January 24, 2010, 2 p.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home Chapel in Russellville with Richard Parker officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Tree Cemetery in Hackleburg, Ala. Visitation will be prior to the service from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m.
    She is survived by daughter, Linda Vaughn, of Muscle Shoals, Ala.; son, Ken Ledbetter and wife, Nancy, of Birmingham, Ala.; sisters, Louise Edwards and husband, James, of Childersburg, Ala., Eloise Harbin and husband, Alvin, of Sylacauga, Ala., Ruby Harbin, of Waleski, Ga., Jimmie Duncan and husband, Roy, of Florence, Ala., Clara Stephens, and husband, R.B., of Birmingham, Ala., Becki Ledbetter and husband, Bud, of Jasper, Ala., Sue Kilgore, of Trussville, Ala., Sarah McCool and husband, Ed, of Birmingham, Ala., Doris Whiteley and husband, Marvin, of Pinson, Ala., Peggy Green and husband, Garry, of Pinson, Ala.; brother, Lee Wiginton and wife, Betty, of Pinson, Ala.; four grandchildren, Amy Reed and husband, Michael, Rodney Vaughn and wife, Amber, Bradley Ledbetter, Leah Mitchell and husband, Zac; two great-grandchildren, Kayleigh Reed and Rex Reed.
    She was preceded in death by husband, Charles G. Ledbetter; and parents, Archie and Marie Wiginton.
    Jeanette Riddle Ricketts
    January 21, 2010
    Jeanette Riddle Ricketts, 78, of Russellville passed away on Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010 at Burns Nursing Home.
    The visitation will be from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010 at Spry Memorial Chapel. The funeral will follow at 2 p.m. in the chapel with Bro. Cecil Cox and Bro. Billy Raper officiating. Interment will be in Knights of Pythias Cemetery.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Myrl Riddle; children, Thomas Dedman, Janet Carol Ricketts and Carol Ricketts Higgins.
    She is survived by her sons, Gerald A. Ricketts and wife, Michelle, of Russellville, Rodney S. Ricketts and wife, Leah, of Cartersville, Ga.; grandchildren, Crystal Higgins Lindsey, Shawn Ricketts Walker, Daniel Higgins, Ethan Ricketts; and two great-grandchildren.
    The pallbearers will be Shawn Walker, Ethan Ricketts, Alex Crittenden, Aaron Martindale, Max Holt, and Michael Matthews.
    She was a member of the Church of Christ.
    Our mother has always tried to do the right thing, but she was still human. She taught and showed her children how to sacrifice, how to love, and how to stand by your loved ones. She also taught us how to take life's sorrows even the loss of three children. Thanks Mom, we love you always.
    The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Burns Nursing Home and staff for the wonderful care and kindness that you have shown to our mother. We personally know of your care and kindness going beyond what might have been expected of you. Thank you so very much to each one of you.
