Tipping benefits everyone

What would happen to the restaurant world if every waiter and waitress just up and quit his or her job?
We would probably be stuck with a bunch of fast-food restaurants and long buffet lines. I believe waiting tables is one of the toughest jobs on the market today, especially when people do not leave tips.
I have friends who currently have this profession and they say the worst day to be a waiter or waitress is on Sundays. What are they talking about? Every time I pass a restaurant around noon on Sunday places are packed with people waiting in line. Then they told me people just don’t leave tips on Sunday. Would the reason be because people tithe on Sunday and do not have enough to tip their server? I don’t have the answer for it, but I would think that all church going people would have the common courtesy to leave a few bucks on the table. Some just don’t though; leaving waiters and waitresses who worked hard to cater to everyone’s every need penniless for that hour of work.
Its not just Sundays, but throughout the week tips have seemed to cease.
Some restaurants make servers split tips. This makes tipping even more important. Throwing a scenario out there, lets say there are 5 servers working and a table leaves $5 to their server that waited on them. That sever has to turn around and split his or her tip with the others. So that means each waitress gets a dollar from that table. This method looks like it works, but in reality it is hard for some waitresses and waiters to give others money that they worked so hard to get.
Tipping can benefit everyone if people would just leave a little dough on the table. It will benefit the waitress or waiter, who will believe they have done their job and were able to come away with some cash to support their lifestyle. Tipping benefits the customer too, because believe it or not the waitress will remember you the next time you come in, and if you did not leave them a tip the last time then your service will be minimum. Like the old saying goes ‘Don’t bite the hand that feeds you.’ It might just turn out ugly for you. There I’ve said my peace. Until next time, Later Dayz…
