William B. "Benjie" Norris

William B. "Benjie" Norris, 68, passed away Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010 after an extended battle with brain cancer.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 16 at Spry Funeral Home in Huntsville with the funeral to follow at 11 a.m. with Bro. Jeff Archer and Lowell Sallee officiating. A second visitation will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 16 with a short memorial service at 4 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home in Russellville with Bro. Jackie Richardson officiating. Interment will be at KP Cemetery in Russellville.
He is survived by his parents, W.B. "Billy" Norris, Jr. and Lelia T. Norris, of Russellville; wife, Mary Jane Paxson Norris; daughters, Becky Romine and husband, Brent, Julie May and husband, Steve, and Amy Norris; sister, Bunny Richardson and husband, Jackie; brothers, Tim Norris and wife, Beverly, and Lanny Norris and wife, Donna; grandchildren, Brock, Baylee and Beth Romine, Jessica, Amanda, Becca and Ben May; sisters-in law, Carol Lindsey and husband, Bert, and Pam Jenkins and husband, Michael; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was retired from the University of Alabama in Huntsville and TVA. He was a faithful Christian and elder at the Jordan Park Church of Christ. He was loved by all who knew him. Special thanks go out to Dr. C Daniel Kingsley and all nurses at CCI in Huntsville.
Pallbearers will be elders and deacons from the Jordan Park Church of Christ.
Kevin Charles Swinney

Kevin Charles Swinney, 35, a native of Franklin County, went home to Heaven on Jan. 12, 2010.
Kevin celebrated his life with family and friends, touching each as only he could. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Phil Campbell and enjoyed substitute teaching and volunteering at Phil Campbell Elementary.
A celebration of life service was held Friday, Jan. 15, 2010 at Akins Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Daryl Butts and Bro. Jerry Pounders officiating. Burial was in Liberty Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jacob Ayers, Barry Cook, Brian Cook, Clint Frederick, Shane Stancil, Jeremy Stowe, Justin Swinney, Robbie Tidwell, John Swinney and Brandon Voyles.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Tammy Swinney; grandparents, Buren and Marcine Swinney, and Sydney and Mary Jackson, all of Franklin County.
He is survived by his parents, Charles and Elsie Swinney; sisters, Laura Voyles and husband, Randy, and Amy Ayers and husband, Heath; nieces, Joshalyn Voyles and Kaylie Ayers; nephews, Jacob Ayers, and Brandon Voyles and wife, Charity; and great nephew, Cole Voyles.
A special thanks to Northwest Alabama Cancer Center and to the CCU nurses at ECM Hospital.
William Eugene Baker

William Eugene Baker, 78, Phil Campbell, Ala., passed away Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010, at his residence.
He was a lifelong resident of Franklin County and member of the Baptist Church. He was a self-employed farmer and truck driver.
Funeral service will be Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010, at 1 p.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home, Russellville with James Bray officiating. Burial will be in Blue Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the service from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Survivors include wife, Elizabeth Cagle Baker; children, Connie Weeks, Anthony Baker and wife, Chiquita, Judy Baker all of Phil Cambell; sisters, Letha Evans, Haleyville, Tinnie Baker, Dean Hatzis; brother, Luchion Baker, all of Russellville; grandchildren, Jeania Norton and husband, Mike, Ginger Mojica and husband, Abraham, Scarlet Bradley and husband, Joel, Will Baker and wife, Stephanie, Jesse Baker; great-grandchildren, Amber Risley, Tori Risley, Braxton Steward, Adrianna Johnson and Cade Baker.
Pallbearers will be Will Baker, Jesse Baker, Mike Norton, Joel Bradley, Jerry Baker and Alfred Baker.
He was preceded in death by parents, William Ervin and Carrie Edith Baker; granddaughter, Quana Johnson.

Lemmie Cummings

Lemmie Cummings, 74, of Phil Campbell, went home to be with the Lord and his precious Charlotte on Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010 at ECM Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010 at 1 p.m. at Akins Funeral Home with Sis. Carolyn Baker and Bro. David Motes officiating. The interment will follow at East Franklin Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Huckaba, Tim Stehno, Clifford Ergle, Paul Mashburn, Ralton Baker and Gerald Cummings.
Mr. Cummings is preceded in death by his daughter, Charlotte Stehno; parents, Glenn and Lovie Cummings; sisters, Betty Cummings and Agnes Motes; brother, Lewis Cummings.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Shirley Scott Cummings; daughters, Vickie Cummings, Donna Huckaba and husband, Jimmy; son-in-law, Jimmy Stehno; sister, Carolyn Baker and husband, Ralton, Gertha Mashburn and husband, Jack, Jackie Kuykendall and husband, Rodney and Mary Jo Motes and husband, David; grandchildren, Andy Prince, Amy and Adam Parker, Katie and Jasper Copeland, Kayla Cummings, Obrey and Joey Burks, Talina Stehno and Illene Stehno; great-grandchildren, Leah Copeland and Sara Grace Burks; many special nieces and nephews; special friends, Clifford Ergle and C.D. Pennington.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Felix Morris, Dr. Ricky Irons, the nursing staff at ECM Hospital and family and friends for all of their prayers, support and visits during Lemmie's illness.
Diana Lynn Lee

Diana Lynn Lee, 55, of Russellville, passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2010 at Russellville Hospital.
Visitation will be held from 2p.m. to 4p.m. on Monday, January 18, 2010 at North Highlands Church of Christ in Russellville. Funeral services will follow beginning at 4 p.m. Spry Memorial Chapel will be assisting the family.
Ms. Lee was preceded in death by her parents, Philip and Lilith Rebecca Taylor; sister, Edith Irene Robertson
She is survived by her sons, Jack Raymond Lee Jr. and wife, Terra of Montana, Jason Stuart Lee of Tuscumbia and Joshua Daniel Lee also of Tuscumbia; grandchildren, Breanna Lee, Austin Lee of Montana, Desiree and Destiny Lee of Tuscumbia; sister, Leona Elaine Street and husband, Robert; brothers, Philip Edward Taylor and wife Debbie of Nebraska, Richard Paul Taylor and wife, Marie of Wyoming; nieces, Jodi Lynn Cochran and husband, Thomas, Jamie Lee South and husband, Jeff, Pamela Lee Pivick of Arkansas, Dawn Lynn Green and husband, Austin; nephew, Robert D. Street Jr. and wife Teresa of Atlanta, Georgia; nine great-nieces and four great-nephews.
Ms. Lee attended North Highlands Church of Christ. She was a very spiritual person who spent her life focusing on the blessings that God gave her. She leaves this world impacting the lives of so many with her exceedingly optimistic attitude. She was a shining example of a joyful, selfless, giving, loyal and loving woman. Her heart was full of love for her family and she will always live on in our hearts
