Snow, frigid temps blanket area

By Staff
Nathan Strickland
Children throughout Franklin County received an extended weekend off from school as snow blanketed all of Franklin County.
The snowstorm left behind around an inch and half of precipitation Thursday into Friday, blanketing all of Franklin County for kids to enjoy.
Children were not the only ones out messing with the snow and ice.
City officials waited patiently on standby as roads continued to become more treacherous for drivers as the temperatures continued to drop.
Russellville Police Chief Chris Hargett said Friday roadways were starting to become slick and people should be cautious when they are traveling.
Phil Campbell Police Chief Merrell Potter urges folks to slow down and take their time.
Potter said they have closed down College Road because it is the worst road to drive on during these conditions.
Forecasters predict the snow to be gone by Monday.
