    Martha Louise Hendon

    Martha Louise Hendon, 81, of Russellville, Ala. passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2009 at Florence Nursing Home and Rehab.
    Funeral services were held Sunday, Dec. 27, 2009 at the First Nazarene Church of Russellville with Bro. Dallas Baggett and Rev. Glen Mayfield officiating. Spry Funeral Home assisted the family.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Virginia Harris; one brother, U.S. Army retired, Paul Harris, Jr.
    She is survived by her husband, Rev. Douglas W. Hendon; children, Douglas W. Hendon, Jr. and wife, Gail, of Florence, Gwendolyn F. Dickenson, of Kansas City, Mo., Dr. H. Mark Hendon and wife, Shelia, of Ocola, Fla., Jadonna S. Robinson and husband, Jon, of Tuscaloosa; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; host of nieces and nephews; and a multitude of friends.
    Edna Faye Glenn

    Edna Faye Glenn, a loving mother and grandmother not only to her own but many others. She was a wonderful cook, sister and friend to many. She was called home to Jesus on December 25, 2009 at the age of 69. She was born on Dec. 30, 1939. She was a member of Freewill Baptist Church.
    Funeral services were held Sunday, Dec. 27, 2009 at Spry Memorial Chapel with Bro. Tom Whatley officiating. Interment was in Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, Brady and Pearl Malone; brothers, Audrey Malone, Jackson Malone, Roger Malone, Ossie Malone; sister, Doris Eider, Martha-Ann Beard, Catherine Moore.
    She is survived by her husband, Bobby Glenn; brothers, J.W. (Buddy) Malone, Leon Malone, Hershal Malone; sister, Francis Fisher; daughters, Janice McCalpin and husband, B.B., Jennie Petree and husband, David, Julia Glenn, and June Vandiver; grandchildren, Jennifer Kelly and husband, Brandon, Jason Glenn and wife, Jennifer, Jared McCalpin, Joe Gardner, Jeffrey Vandiver; six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
    The pallbearers were B.B. McCalpin, David Petree, Jason Glenn, Jared McCalpin, Brandon Kelly, Mike Barnett, William Joel Beard and Jerry Beard. Honorary pallbearers were Logan Kelly, Layne Kelly, Cole Kelly, Jackson Glenn, Parker Glenn and Tucker Glenn.
    The family would like to thank special niece, Brenda Ovitt and special friend, Hershel King for being there for her in her time of need. Also a special thanks to Dr. Kelly and the ICU staff at Russellville Hospital for all they did for her and the family.
    Jane B. Williams

    Jane B. Williams, 68, of Hodges, Ala. passed away Thursday, Dec. 24, 2009 at her residence. She was born Feb. 17, 1941 in Mississippi to Howard and Christine Poole Browning. She was a bus driver for Franklin County Schools for 25 years. She was a member of Atwood Baptist Church and the director of activities for the Care Center of Red Bay. She also enjoyed quilting.
    Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 26, 2009 at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Nathan Davidson, Bro. Lloyd Ray Griffus and Bro. Larry Hill officiating. Burial will be in Atwood Cemetery.
    She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Tommy Williams, of Hodges; three children, Tony Williams, of Ky., Tammy Williams and LeAnn Williams, both of Auburn, Ala.; mother, Christine Browning, of Dennis, Miss.; seven grandchildren, Elise Williams, Olivia Williams, Vivian Lipscomb, Tommy Lipscomb, Reagan Watkins, Megan Watkins and Aubrea Watkins; one brother, Gene Browing and wife, Mavis, of Dennis, Miss.
    Pallbearers were Scott Eubanks, Daris Wells, Phillip Williams, Mickey Collum, Matthew Hester and James Lipscomb.
    Virginia Ann Huss
    December 24, 2009
    Virginia Ann Huss, 58, of Red Bay, Ala. passed away Thursday, Dec. 24, 2009 at her residence. She was born July 18, 1951 in Jacksonville, Ala. to Carl Burton and JoAnn West Libby. She was employed by Care Center of Red Bay and attended the Pentecostal Faith Church.
    There were no services. Deaton Funeral Home assisted the family.
    She is survived by her husband, Jim Huss, of Red Bay; three children, Jeannie Lynn Battis, of Okla., James John Huss, of Lamar, Mich. and Ann Marie Wagner, of Champaign, Ill.; twin sister, Carla Mitchell, of Red Bay; sister, Joyce Singleton, of Ky., Lori Payne and Mary Jane Agnew, both of Ill.; six brothers, Earl Libby, of Golden, Miss., Johnny Libby, Gary Warnick, David Libby, Howard Libby and Carl Muller, all of Ill.
    She was preceded in death by her sister, Margie Libby; and two brothers, Larry Libby and Danny Erue.
    William Kemper McDowell
    December 25, 2009
    William Kemper McDowell, Jr., 94, of Russellville, Ala., died on Christmas morning, December 25, 2009, at home. He was born May 31, 1915, in the Isbell Community, the oldest child of William and Lena Williams McDowell. He was preceded in death by his parents and his two sisters, Mary Kelley and Betty Barrett.
    Funeral services were held Sunday, Dec. 27, 2009 at Pinkard Funeral Home Chapel with Richard Parker officiating. Burial was in Franklin Memory Gardens.
    He is survived by his wife, Martha Duncan McDowell; and his two sons, William Kemper McDowell, III, and wife, Edith, and Daniel G. McDowell and wife, Paula. Grandchildren are Kemper, Kelly, Kerry, Judy, Jason, Jamie, Andrew, Amanda, Emma, and Duncan; and twelve great-grandchildren.
    Kemper married his childhood sweetheart, Martha Duncan, on August 28, 1936, the beginning of 73 wonderful years together. He began his career as a carpenter for TVA and worked at numerous projects on the Tennessee River and its tributaries in four states until his retirement as superintendent of construction at the Racoon Mountain pump storage facility in Chattanooga, Tenn. He and Martha made numerous lifetime friends being active in their church and community everywhere they lived.
    His employment with TVA was interrupted during World War II when he served in the 436th Signal Heavy Construction Battalion Aviation until his discharge on May 7, 1946, as a technical sergeant. He participated in the battle of Luzon and was in the first wave of occupational forces in Japan.
    He was ordained a deacon on December 15, 1965, and served his church in numerous positions. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Russellville, Ala. He was named Civitan of the Year of the Russellville Club in 2001. He was a member of Russellville Masonic Lodge #371, a Shriner, and Carpenter Local #1209. He loved Auburn football and Atlanta Braves baseball. He fulfilled a lifetime dream when he was eighty years old when he went to see the Braves in the World Series. He was a sweet, kind, and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. We will miss him.

    Edna Rose Inman, 62, of Haleyville, Ala. passed away Saturday, December 26, 2009 at Lakeland Hospital.
    She was a native of Colbert County, but had lived in the Haleyville area for the past 12 years.
    Graveside services were held Monday, Dec. 28, 2009, at Hopewell Church of Christ Cemetery in the Lagrange Community with Roger Watson officiating. Burial followed immediately after the service. Pinkard Funeral Home in Russellville assisted the family.
    She is survived by her husband, Billy Inman, of Haleyville; children, Billy Inman, Jr., Tracey Barnhouse, of West Virginia, Kelly Jackson, of Florence; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
    Buddy J. Goodman
    December 22, 2009
    Buddy J. Goodman, 64, of Hammond, Ind. passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2009. He was born on Thursday, Nov. 1, 1945 to Luther and Phyllis Sharpe Goodman.
    Graveside funeral services were held at Sparks Cemetery on Monday, Dec. 28, 2009 with Bro. Johnny Richardson officiating. Akins Funeral Home assisted the family.
    He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Puckett Goodman; parents, Luther &Phyllis Goodman; sister, Betty Overton.
    He is survived by daughter, Monica McMicken and husband, Kevin; son, David Goodman, all of Russellville; brothers, Kenneth, Cleo &Lonnie Goodman, all of Clinton, TN; and granddaughter, Abigail McMicken.
    He was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church of Clinton, Tenn. He was a retired steel worker from Mittal Steel Company.
    David “Mac” Michael Duncan
    December 25, 2009
    David “Mac” Michael Duncan, 49, of Russellville, Ala. passed away on Friday, Dec. 25, 2009. He was born in Franklin County, Ala. on Sunday, July 17, 1960 to Bobby Duncan and Barbara Jordan Duncan.
    Funeral services were held Sunday, December 27 at Akins Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Mark McCullar officiating. Interment was in Knights of Pythias Cemetery.
    Pallbearers were Robert Cameron, Joel Bragwell, Johnny Sanchez, Ted McAlister, Albert Braly, and Marcus Jeffreys.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, Bobby &Barbara Duncan; grandparents.
    He is survived by his wife, Lisa Chambers Duncan; daughter, Kendall Turbyfill and husband, Tanner; son, Clint Duncan; brother, Ray Duncan and wife, Racheal; sister, Lila Duncan; grandson, Duncan Blaine Turbyfill; nieces, Bridgette Duncan, Tina Jenkins, and Tonya Elrod.
    He was a member of Russellville First Freewill Baptist Church.
    Julia M. Moore
    December 27, 2009
    Julia M. Moore, 87, of Russellville, Ala., passed away on Sunday, Dec. 27, 2009, at Terrace Manor Nursing Home of natural causes.
    The visitation was Tuesday, Dec. 29 at Akins Funeral Home prior to the 11 a.m. funeral service which was held in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Rachel Blankenship officiating. Interment was in Franklin Memory Gardens.
    Pallbearers were Chad Williams, Ray Brown, Ronnie McCulloch, Mack Woodard, Buddy Walker, Ray Fretwell, Donald Entrekin, and Matt Moore. Honorary pallbearers were Doug Johnson, Billy Hester, Eddie Wells, and North Alabama Wagon Club.
    She was preceded in death by her son, Lester Moore; daughter, Elane Moore; brother, Bill Moran.
    She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Virgil Moore; daughter-in-law; Betty J. Moore; sisters, Margie McCulloch, Mary Hester; grandchildren, Frankie Moore and wife, Tonya, Susan Kelly and husband Tyler; great grandchildren, Leslie and Kelly Moore, Charlie and Tanner Kelly.
    She was a member of Isbell United Methodist Church and North Alabama Wagon Club.
    Special thanks to the Heaton family, Marie Horton, Linda Hovater, Dr. Kevin Kelly and Terrace Manor Nursing Home for their special care for the last years of Mrs. Moore’s life; thanks as well to Isbell and Spruce Pine United Methodist Church congregations.
