RED BAY- Lt. Scottie Belue said he was truly surprised Monday when Red Bay Police Chief Jana Jackson called his name to receive this year’s award for officer of the year. Belue has been on the force for 10 years and has stepped into the K-9 officer role for the department.
Belue has spent time in the local schools spreading the word about drug awareness to younger kids. Jackson said he has done a tremendous job for the department this year.
Belue said it is truly an honor to be recognized by the chief and hopes to keep doing a good job.
Belue said he always wanted to pursue a career in law enforcement.
Jackson selected this year’s recipient and said Belue’s character contributed to her decision. Red Bay Mayor Bobby Forsythe said the award was given to one of Red Bay’s finest.
