Belgreen girls, Red Bay boys earn victories

The Belgreen girls rebounded from their first loss of the season by defeating Red Bay 53-38 Monday night to improve to 9-1 overall.
The Lady Bulldogs trailed 14-11 at the end of the first quarter, but their stifling defense limited Red Bay to only three points during the second quarter.
The game remained close through the third quarter, but Belgreen pulled away by out scoring the Lady Tigers 22-11 in the fourth.
Belgreen had three players reach double-digit scoring as Amber Smith scored 14 points, Anna DeVaney scored 13 points and Katy Britton added 11 points.
Also scoring for the Lady Bulldogs were Loren McVicker (8), Erica Smith (2), Lydia DeVaney (2) and Katelin Barber (1).
Red Bay's Whitney Sharp led all scorers with 15 points while Catilin Childers added seven points. Also scoring for the Lady Tigers were Taylor Hester (6), Hannah Sharp (4), Meghann Oliver (3) and Morgan McKinney (3).
Red Bay 70,
Belgreen 48
Red Bay built a commanding lead by limiting the Belgreen to 14 first-half points as the Tigers improved to 4-4 overall with a 70-48 victory against the Bulldogs.
Red Bay's Cory Timbs led all scorers with 18 points while Nathan Gray scored seven points. Curtis Morrell, Steven Nabers and Andy Thorn scored six points each for the Tigers.
Also scoring for Red Bay were Cody Reynolds with four points, Chase Lindsey and Blake Brummett with three points each and Austin Malone with one point.
Will Hester led the Bulldogs with 15 points while Ben Britnell added six points.
Also scoring for Belgreen (2-8) were Samuel Melecio (5), Brian Vance (4), B.J. Horton (3), Trent Edwards (3), Daniel Melecio (2), josh Quillen (2) and Colt Hester (2).
Vina 67,
Brilliant 60
Morgan McCarley scored 24 points, grabbed four rebounds had four assists and recorded four steals to help lead Vina past Brilliant Monday.
Patrick White also had a strong game with 18 points, 10 rebounds, six steals and four assists while Brent Townsend added 10 points, seven rebounds, five steals and four assists. Adam Pharr had 10 points and six rebounds for the Red Devils.
East Franklin 45,
Tharptown 38
Taylor Pace recorded a double-double to lead the East Franklin girls past Tharptown in the Lady Rebels final regular season game.
Autumn Thomas added 17 points and five rebounds while Kassy Baker had eight points and seven steals for East Franklin.
Madison Hardy grabbed eight rebounds and scored three points for the Lady Rebels.
Rachel Garrison led the Lady Wildcats with 18 points while Danielle Creasey and Allie Chaffin scored six points each. Also scoring for Tharptown were Hannah Blacklidge and Abby Allen with four points each.
