Two teams fall from rankings

By Staff
The latest poll from the Alabama Sports Writers Association features two fewer ranked teams from Franklin County following tough starts for those two squads.
The Russellville boys – the only area boys team to be ranked this season – was dropped from the Class 5A rankings following the Golden Tigers' 1-2 start to the season.
Russellville, previously ranked seventh, opened the year with a one-point loss to Huffman before rebounding with a solid 67-47 victory at Area 15 foe Hartselle.
The Golden Tigers dropped their next area game to Muscle Shoals by a final score of 80-68.
The Red Bay girls fell out of the Class 2A poll after dropping to 2-4 overall entering this week's games.
The Lady Tigers, previously ranked seventh, have won twice this week to even their record at 4-4 overall.
The Belgreen girls remain the highest ranked team in the county.
The Lady Bulldogs, ranked third in Class 1A, have an overall record of 8-0.
The Russellville varsity girls remain in the No. 6 spot in the Class 5A poll after defeating Muscle Shoals 48-47 to stay undefeated on the season.
The Lady Golden Tigers are 6-0 overall.
The poll was released Thursday morning and records reflect wins and losses through Tuesday night's games.
