RFD helping local plants with safety issues

High winds caused a little difficulty for employees at Saint-Gobain Technical Fabrics as they learned the best technique to handle a fire with a fire extinguisher.
The Russellville plant requires that everyone go through an annual course on how to properly use a fire extinguisher.
Health and Safety manager of Saint-Gobain Technical Fabrics Janet Wright said every plant within the company is annually required to take these classes for safety purposes. Malone said some people just might not know how to operate a fire extinguisher.
Some of the basic techniques of using a fire extinguisher include first, pulling the pin, then aim the hose at the base of a fire and finally, clamp the handle down and slowly sweep the blaze from one side to the next. The hotter the fire, the longer it takes to put it out.
Malone has conducted three classes at the plant, covering all the basics necessary to put out a blazing fire.
