Russellville girls earn ranking

Thursday morning members of the Russellville varsity girls basketball team found themselves somewhere they had never been before – in the Alabama Sports Writers Association poll.
The Lady Golden Tigers, which were unranked last week, jump into the No. 6 spot in the 5A poll thanks to wins against Red Bay, Lexington and Florence.
Despite the loss, the Red Bay girls hold steady at the No. 7 spot in the Class 2A poll.
Belgreen remains the highest ranked team in the county. The Lady Bulldogs are No. 3 in the Class 1A poll.
Russellville remains the only boys team in this week's poll. The Golden Tigers are ranked seventh.
