"Drive 4 Ur School" comes to Russellville

Russellville High School is looking for 300 households to participate in the school's fundraiser this Saturday to raise money for the school and the Marching Hundred.
Band Parent Association President John James said the fundraiser has the school teaming up with Long Lewis Ford to present "Drive 4 Ur School" event.
"Long Lewis will give us $20 for every household that takes a test drive during this event up to $6,000 so we need 300 households to come out and help us with his fundraising effort," James said.
James said the proceeds from the event will be split between the RHS Marching Hundred and the high school.
"The money raised in the event will be for the band's trip to Orlando next spring, and the school with get the other half for the school," James said. "We don't get credit per person. We get credit per household."
Drivers must be at least 18 in order to test drive a vehicle. The national "Drive 4 Ur School" event began in 2007, and 150 high schools nationwide participated in the event in 2008.
In addition to the Ford event, the band will host a yard sale in the student parking lot Saturday.
"Each student will man their own table, and sell their own stuff," James said. "Money raised during the yard sale will go into the student's own band trip fund."
James said the cost of the Orlando trip is currently $650 per student, but is subject to change upon receipt of more funding.
"The cost could go down if we get help from other sources," James said. "But right now, each student is paying $650 to go."
The band will perform in the "Celebrate a Dream Come True" parade at Disney's Magic Kingdom theme park on April 22. The trip will include a day at one of the other Disney parks and a day at Universal Orlando.
Concessions will be also be available at the yard sale and "Drive 4 Ur School" fundraiser. The Band Parent's Association will be selling hot dogs, fried Oreos, funnel cakes, and drinks Saturday.
