RHS earns playoff spot with win

By Staff
The East Limestone Indians committed two costly turnovers in the first half and couldn't recover in a 35-7 loss to the visiting Russellville Golden Tigers.
Russellville (6-2, 5-1) took an early 7-0 lead on a 3-yard pass from Joe Howe to Mason Willis.
Later in the first quarter, East (4-4, 2-4) punted but failed to down the ball which was scooped up by Darrian Graham who ran 56-yards for a Golden Tigers TD and a 14-0 lead.
An East fumble just before the half resulted in more Russellville points when Howe connected on a 25-yard pass to Ryan Romans for a 21-0 halftime score.
The Indians' Devin Robinson scored East's lone touchdown for the night on a 54-yard touchdown run followed by a Grant Talbert extra point.
With the win Russellville clinches a playoff spot.
The Golden Tigers host Athens next Friday.
The winner of that game will earn the region's second seed and will host a first-round playoff game while the loser will be the third seed and will be forced to play a road game in the first round.
That game begins at 7 p.m.
