Lions ready for Bowden's first GSC game

The University of North Alabama gets its first taste of Gulf South Conference action this week as it hits the road to take on Henderson State.
UNA (2-0, 0-0) opened the season against GSC member Southern Arkansas, but that game did not count towards the league standings.
Henderson State has dropped two road games to open its season.
The Lions have had quite a bit of success against the Reddies through out the years. UNA currently has a 13-game win streak in the series and holds an 18-4 advantage overall.
The UNA offense, which used mostly passing plays against Carson-Newman last week, will face a Reddies defense allowing 271.5 yards per game this season. The Lions are averaging 305 passing yards through two games.
The Henderson State offense has not struggled to put points on the board. The Reddies scored 38 against Southeast Oklahoma and 24 against McNeese State.
UNA has only allowed 23 points this season – nine to Southern Arkansas and 14 to Carson-Newman.
The Lions moved up to third in the latest Division II poll. It marks the 37th time in the last 45 polls UNA has been ranked in the top four.
