Tigers look for better game against Lee

By Staff

RED BAY – Last year Red Bay coach Dale Jeffreys was eager for his team to travel to Milton-Frank Stadium in Huntsville to take on Lee.
He said the experience of playing in the large stadium would be good for the team.
The Tigers struggled on offense and the defense had difficulty shutting down the Lee ground attack during the 18-7 loss.
This year the Tigers welcome the Generals into the friendly confines of Fred Bostick Jr. Memorial Stadium for this year's season opener.
The Tigers are eager for the opportunity to return the favor to Lee.
Last year was a disappointment for Red Bay. The Tigers reached the state semifinals two years ago, but last season they struggled to a 4-7 record. They did make the playoffs, but lost in the first round.
They will head into the season with an untested quarterback after senior Cody Palmer suffered a season-ending knee injury.
Sophomore Hunter Childers will take over the offense, which struggled often last year.
Lee is also coming off a disappointing season. The Generals – who are in Class 5A, but do not have many players on the team – finished last year 3-7. Their only wins came against Red Bay, Muscle Shoals and Butler.
This week's game will be a battle of teams coming off losing seasons.
The winner will get a boost of confidence before region play begins next week. The other will have to figure out its problems quickly, or risk falling behind in the region standings early.
