    Jessie Pearl Hillman Rorer, 69, of Chicago, Ill. died Wednesday, August 12, 2009.
    Funeral services were held Aug. 18 at St. Paul Christian Methodist Episcopal Church in Tuscumbia, Ala. Burial was in Franklin Memory Garden in Russellville.
    She was formerly of Russellville.
    Thompson and Son Funeral Home in Tuscumbia assisted the family.
    Lesley Durell "L.D." Petree
    August 13, 2009
    Lesley Durell "L.D." Petree, 86, of the Pleasant Site Community, passed away Aug. 13, 2009. He was a member of Harmony Baptist Church and served as deacon for 54 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II and retired from Reynolds Metal Company where he was known as "Pete."
    He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Doris Petree; two daughters, Lynn Milam and husband, Tom, of Hernando, Miss. and Ann Mitchell and husband, Jimmy, of Cherokee, Ala.; three grandchildren, Jimmy Gaither, of Memphis, Tenn., Heather Mitchell Ozbirn and husband, Stacy, of Red Bay and Chase Mitchell, of Cherokee, Ala.; one sister, Marvalee DeVaney, of Madison, Ala.; one brother, Marcell Petree, of Red Bay; and several nieces.
    Funeral services were held Aug. 16, at Harmony Baptist Church in Pleasant Site, with Bro. A.G. Stepp and Bro. Roger Wood officiating.
    Burial was in the adjoining cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home in Red Bay assisted the family.
    Since his retirement, he and Doris have traveled to every state in the Union, Canada and the countries where he served in World War II.
    Pallbearers were friends and members of the Pleasant Site and Turkey Foot Hunting Clubs. He will be dearly missed by his family and many hunting friends with whom he spent some of his happiest times.
    Delma Mae Summers

    Delma Mae Summers, 97, of Russellville passed away Saturday, August 15, 2009 at her home.
    Funeral services were held Aug. 18 at Bethsadia Baptist Church with Bro. Stanley Hargett officiating. Interment was in Bethsadia Cemetery. Spry Memorial Chapel assisted the family.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Summers; parents, Tom and Mary Gist Allen; siblings, Lester Allen, Arthur Allen, Henry Allen, William Allen, Willard Allen, Minnie Allen Kimbrough, Mary Lou Allen King, Maodenia Allen Murray.
    She is survived by her sons, Jimmy C. Summers and wife, Shanna, of Russellville, William L. Summers and wife, Theresa, of Hatton; brother, Tommy Allen, of Philadelphia, Miss.; sisters, Bertha Allen Britnell, of Mr. Hope, Ruby Allen Miller, of Ozark, Ala.; sister-in-law, Myrtle Hicks, of Russellville; grandchildren, Jamie Summers and wife, Marsha, of Muscle Shoals, Dr. Bradley Summers and wife, April, of Mobile, Kirk Summers and wife, Tracy, of Waterford, Conn., Scott summers, of Hatton, Jeff Summers and wife, Kasey; great-grandchildren, Abby Summers, Noah Summers, Hayden Summers, Kyle Summers, Evan Summers, James Summers, Jordan Summers; and numerous nieces and nephews.
    Pallbearers were Johnny Allen, Ronnie Allen, Roger Allen, William King, Scott Summers, Jeff Summers, Jamie Summers and Dr. Bradley Summers.
    She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed and loved forever.
    Harold Lloyd Massey
    August 15, 2009
    Harold Lloyd Massey, 73, of Red Bay, passed away Aug. 15, 2009 at the NMMC in Tupelo. He was employed at Winfield Manufacturing and a member of Community Center Baptist Church in Red Bay. He was a member of the Army National Guard.
    Funeral services were held Aug. 17, at Community Center Baptist Church with Bro. Lowell Baggett officiating. Burial was in Burnout Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home assisted the family.
    He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Ann Massey, of Red Bay; three children, Lisha Ezzell and husband, Dexter, and Lori Sims and husband, Jimmy, all of Red Bay, and Phillip Massey and wife, Janie, of Belmont, Miss.; three grandchildren, Dane Ezzell, Jade Ezell and Kaleb Sims; one sister, Ruth Middleton, of Brownsville, Tenn.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Lee and Marietta Tilley Massey and his step-mother, Mary Massey.
    Pallbearers were Riley Pilkington, Ricky Hopkins, Barry Lofton, Dexter Ezzell, Jimmy Sims and Dane Ezzell.
    Honorary pallbearers were Roger Baggett and Alton Barksdale.
    Seaman Strickland
    August 15, 2009
    Seaman Strickland, 84, of Red Bay passed away August, 15, 2009 at the Red Bay Hospital. He was born May 31, 1925 in Red Bay to Sam and Roxie Bentley Strickland. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Red Bay. He served on the Red Bay Fire Department for 34 years and was fire chief for several years. He was a former councilman for the City of Red Bay.
    Funeral services were held Aug. 18, at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Coye Marbutt officiating. Burial was in Cedar Creek Cemetery.
    He is survived by one son, Danny Strickland and wife, Judy, of Red Bay; two grandchildren, Lisa Strickland Clark, of Fruithurst, Ala. and Jeff Strickland and wife, Victoria, of Talledega, Ala.; five great-grandchildren, Adam Strickland and wife, Elizabeth, of Carrollton, Ga., Ashley Strickland, of Lineville, Ala., Corey Clark and Tyler Strickland, both of Fruithurst, Ala. and Bryannah Strickland, of Talladega, Ala.; two great-great-grandchildren, Camdyn Grace Presley and Logan Strickland; two nieces, Linda Blanton, of Pleasant Site and Yvonne Mitchell, of Nashville, Tenn.
    He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ruth Seale Strickland, his parents, and his sister, Eulon Strickland Collum.
    Pallbearers were Harold Strickland, Scott Tepper, Thomas Mitchell, Donnie Seale, Adam Strickland and Jeff Strickland.
    Fran Skinner
    August 15, 2009
    Norris Fran Skinner, 59, of Red Bay, passed away Saturday, Aug. 15, 2009 at his residence. He was a civil engineer for the Alabama Department of Transportation and a member of First Baptist Church in Red Bay. He enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his grandchildren.
    Funeral services were held Aug. 17 at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Larry Hill and Bro. Kevin Tribble officiating. Burial was in Red Bay City Cemetery.
    He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Janice Skinner, of Red Bay; two daughters, Susan Young and husband, Jeff, of Dennis, Miss. and Kim Wilson and husband, John, of Lexington, Ala.; three grandchildren, Laken Young, Brett Young and Sloan Wilson; mother-in-law, Lenette McDonald, of Belmont, Miss.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, Olon and Eva Orrick Skinner and his father-in-law, Bill McDonald, Sr.
    Pallbearers were Jeff Clark, Boyd Lee Tidwell, Richard Orrick, Jackie Humphres, Phillip Orrick and Dean Hubbard.
    Honorary pallbearers were his cousins, golfing buddies and friends at the ADOT.
    Roger K. Webb
    August 16, 2009
    Roger Keith Webb, 51, of Russellville, passed away Sunday, Aug. 16, 2009 at ECM Hospital in Florence.
    He was a lifelong resident of Franklin County and a member of Friendship Baptist Church. He had worked at the Littleville Police Department, at T.V.A. Public Safety and as a truck driver for Gold Kist.
    Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2009 at 2 p.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home Chapel in Russellville with burial at Friendship Cemetery. Officiating will be John Webb and Keith Prince.
    He is survived by his parents, Ted and Gloria Webb, of Russellville; children, Regina Webb Hill and husband, Pete, of Russellville, Jeremy Quillen and wife, Necole, of Russellville, and Brad Quillen, of Russellville; brothers, Mark Webb, of Hamilton and John Webb and wife, Dora, of Russellville; grandchildren, J.T. Hill, Julyssa Hill and J.J. Quillen; and special friend, Tammy Baker.
    William Oneal Bolton
    August 16, 2009
    William Oneal Bolton, 85, of Russellville, passed away Sunday, Aug. 16, 2009 after an extended illness. He was a member and deacon of Rockwood Baptist Church, where he served faithfully as Discipleship Training Director and Treasurer for more than 40 years. He served in World War II, as a TEC 5 Medical Technician. He was retired form Reynolds Metal Company, and a member of the Tennessee Valley Coonhunters' Association. Until his health declined, he and his cousin, Herbert Henson were caretakers of the Coon Dog Cemetery where he organized the annual Labor Day celebration.
    Funeral services were held Aug. 18, at Spry Memorial Chapel with Bro. Jerry Hester and Jim Poss officiating. Interment will be in Franklin Memory Gardens.
    He was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores Porter Bolton; parents, Manual Draten and Ida Bonds Bolton; brother, Eugene Bolton; and sister, Marie McKinney.
    He is survived by his children, Debbie and Mark King, of Russellville and Larry and Velda Bolton, of Spring Hill, Fla.; grandchildren, Jonathan and Heather King, Carmen and Jim Poss and Casey King, of Russellville, and Michael and Andrea Bolton, of Spring Hill, Fla.; great-grandchildren, Cole King, Will King, Jayna Poss and Javan Poss, of Russellville; brother, Billy and Judy Bolton, of Red Bay; sister, Elsie and Travis Fleming, of Coloma, Mich.; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
    Pallbearers were Jonathan King, Casey King, Jim Poss, Brad Bolton, Mark King and Billy Bolton.
    The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of the Country Cottage in Russellville, Wiregrass Hospice, Wanda Jackson, Dean Hatzis and Faye Baker.
    In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Rockwood Baptist Church, 120 Hester Ave., Russellville, AL 35654.
    Kenneth E. Kuykendall
    August 16, 2009
    Kenneth E. Kuykendall, 62, of Bear Creek, Ala. passed away Sunday, Aug. 16, 2009 at UAB Hospital in Birmingham.
    He was a native of Franklin County and a member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church in Red Bay. He was retired form the Russellville Unit of the Alabama National Guard.
    The funeral service will be Wednesday, Aug. 19, at 11 a.m. at Cedar Creek Baptist Church, Hwy. 247 in Red Bay, with burial in the adjoining cemetery. Officiating will be Lloyd Griffus. Pinkard Funeral Home assisted the family.
    He is survived by his ex-wife, Sue Kuykendall, of Red Bay; mother, Magdeline Kuykendall, of Red Bay; children, Rodney Kuykendall, of Bear Creek, Donald Kuykendall, of Red Bay and Benny Kuykendall, of Red Bay; brothers, Tommy Kuykendall, of Huntsville, Joseph Kuykendall, of Red Bay and Jimmy Kuykendall, of Huntsville; sister, Joan Raper, of Vina; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by his father, Willard Kuykendall; and daughter, Tina S. Kuykendall.
