Russellville softball strong at state

Three girls softball teams from Russellville recently placed at state tournaments in Winfield.
The 12-and-under team finished second while the 8-and under and 10-and-under teams each finished third.
Bailey Phillips led the 10-and-under team with four home runs in the tournament while Megan Brockway added two homers.
The team had outstanding pitching performances by Lily Holt, Hannah Grace Thomason, Morgan George and Phillips.
The team beat Childerburg, Piedmont and Talladega before losing to Fort Payne in the third place game.
Statistics for the 12-and-under team and the 8-and-under team were not available at press time.
