Russellville's McAllister kept several Golden Tiger teams in title hunt

Russellville High School has a tradition of athletic success.
During his time with the Golden Tigers, Nathan McAllister did all he could to make sure that tradition continued.
As a junior he was a member of the varsity boys basketball team that compiled a 32-1 record and reached the state finals, where the Golden Tigers lost their only game of the season.
As a senior he helped the football team return to the state finals for the first time since 2004, returned to the basketball team for a trip to the sub-regional round of the state playoffs, joined the tennis team for a trip to the state tournament and was a member of the 4×100 meter relay team that finished second at the state track meet.
McAllister had the biggest impact on the football field.
He led the Golden Tigers with 914 receiving yards and led all receivers with eight touchdown catches.
He made several great plays for Russellville during the playoffs including catching the go-ahead touchdown with less than a minute to go against Madison County. Moments later he intercepted a Madison County pass to seal the win for Russellville.
McAllister also caught a 75-yard touchdown pass and returned an interception 32 yards during the state championship game against Vigor.
McAllister earned an All-State Honorable Mention and was named to the First Team of The Franklin County Times All-County Team.
Although the basketball team failed to return to the state tournament, McAllister played a key roll for the Golden Tigers coming off the bench.
In the spring he teamed up with his twin brother, John, to play No.-3 doubles for the Russellville tennis team.
They earned a first-round bye in at the state tournament before falling to Sylacauga 6-1, 6-1 in the second round.
In his last quest for a state title at Russellville, McAllister ran with the 4×100 meter relay team at the state track meet. The Golden Tigers finished second, only 0.15 seconds behind John Carroll.
