Industrial building efforts picking up

By Staff
Jonathan Willis
In about two months, the county will have a new building to show prospective industries looking for a place to move.
Work on the city of Russellville's new spec building is progressing on pace, officials said, and is expected to be complete by August.
The 53,000 square feet building will give the Franklin County Development Authority a new tool to use in marketing the county to potential tenants.
"As soon as work went out that we would be building a spec building, I started getting calls about it," said Mitch Mays, executive director of the Franklin County Development Authority.
"We are really looking forward to marketing this."
The building will not include a finished floor so any tenant can make necessary changes that they see fit.
"It is about as basic as a spec building can be," Mays said.
Work on the city's new building is just about a mile from the site where crews are working on the Mike Green Industrial Park.
Roads in that park are complete and new signs should be placed at the parks entrance within the next week.
State Senator Roger Bedford has worked with development officials closely on this project.
"This will give us a place where we can market to companies needing 30, 40 or 50 acres," Mays said.
"All of the parks should complement each other well and help us attract businesses here."
