Red Bay's Morgan Duncan signs with Wallace State

RED BAY – The Red Bay-Wallace State pipeline continued to flow Wednesday as Morgan Duncan signed to play basketball for the Lions.
Duncan became the third player from Red Bay to sign with Wallace State, following in the footsteps of her sister, Courtney.
"It feels great and is really exciting," Duncan said. "I've been working towards this."
Indeed she has.
Wallace State coach Larry Slater said Duncan had verbally committed to Wallace State when she was in the seventh grade.
"I've watched her ever since," Slater said. "I'm tickled to death. She has great character and is a great player."
During her senior season, Duncan averaged 12.8 points per game and hit 54 three-pointers to help lead the Lady Tigers to the Regional Tournament. She was selected as the team's Most Valuable Player and was named to the Franklin County Times All-County First Team.
"I'm happy she gets to go on to play at a higher level," said Red Bay coach Donnie Roberts. "She has the ability to put the ball on the floor and take jump shots. She'll be hard to replace."
Duncan said she will not forget winning every county championship since her seventh-grade season and how close she was with each of her teammates through the years.
Slater said Duncan will be a big asset to the Wallace State program.
"The first thing about Morgan is she has a lot of intensity. She is good at the three, a good defender and she hounds the ball well," Slater said. "I've enjoyed watching her progress, she was impressive this year. She did an excellent job running the point last summer in the North-South All-Star Game."
She had some advice to pass on to the players she is leaving behind.
"Work hard. If you don't work, you won't get the opportunity I got," Duncan said. "I also hope they do well."
