Monday Update: Top nurse to be named tomorrow

When you're at the doctor or in the hospital, the nurse makes all the difference between feeling better and feeling better sooner.
Nurses ease the pain of a shot and comfort you in scary situations.
Country Cottage Assisted Living in Russellville is recognizing the extraordinary, caring nurses in the area who are dedicated to patient care with the 4th Annual Nurse of the Year Award. The Franklin County Nurse of the Year Award ceremony will take place Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at the Cottage on North Jackson Ave in Russellville.
"We're honoring the contributions of nurses in the area for the fourth year in a row and awarding one as the nurse of the year," said Betty Chesnut, Managing Director at Country Cottage.
"We'll also be hosting two presentations: The Nurse &The Great Physician, presented by Kenneth Reed, pastor at Grace Covenant Church, and The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, presented by Marsha Oliver, director of eCentury Centre. Nurses can earn two free Contact Hours for attending."
The Nurse of the Year was chosen by a committee of community leaders including Franklin County District Attorney Joey Rushing, District Court Judge Paula McDowell and Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Cheryl Bradford.
All nominees will receive a certificat, and the winner will receive a plaque and $500.
"Everyone is invited to join us for the award ceremony on May 20 at the Cottage to help us say thank you to area nurses," Chesnut said.
